About Rebeka
Hi, my name is Rebeka! It's strange for me to introduce myself, but somehow you have to get to know me. I decided that the best way to describe me would be to let my closest people describe me, no one knows me better than them, so here's what they have to say:
Franka: "My Beka is extremely empathetic, attentive and always ready to listen and help. The warm dose of humanity she brings to her work makes her special and worthy of every trust! She connects with people, and children, on incredible levels, in such a natural, unobtrusive way, full of understanding. She accepts us all exactly as we are, and children trust her because they feel her true warmth. Behind her great expertise is her warmth and sincere care for people. She always approaches with a lot of patience and without judgment. Both as a friend and as a professional, I would entrust her with the most important thing, a child, without thinking twice!"
Rina: “As someone who has the privilege of knowing Rebekah personally, I can say that I am excited and proud when I imagine people entering therapy and she is the one they go through the entire process with. Extremely compassionate, joyful, organized, but also adaptable. She enjoys her job and that is wonderful to see! It is an honor to cultivate a friendship with her, and I am confident that she cultivates therapeutic relationships with the same dedication!”
Furthermore, I think it is important to include something that people in the profession have to say about me. My mentor wrote in one of her recommendations: “Everything she doesn’t know, she is willing to learn, and she learns very quickly. She is not afraid of challenges and has courage when it is most needed. She is willing to learn and improve, which she often shows by participating in various training courses. It is a great pleasure for me to write a recommendation for Rebeka because she is reliable, hardworking, caring, capable and smart, and possesses moral values that are necessary for the world around us.”
After such nice words, I will try to introduce myself to you.
I was born in Ortona, and lived in Francavilla al mare, on the east coast of Italy for 11 years. I moved to Croatia and returned with my parents to the place where they grew up. Although Italian is my first language, Croatian was spoken at home, so I can say that I speak both languages equally well. Despite that, the move was also a great challenge in terms of language, so I had to brush up on my literary Croatian with a pile of fiction from the local library. I love Italian food, culture and music. I travel to Italy often and I love to go back. I love to travel, it was instilled in me by my parents, with whom I always went somewhere at least once a year. Since I started working, it's been a little harder to balance it, but I still try whenever I can!
My favorite color is blue, it's always been that way, I love all shades, but indigo blue is my favorite. Of the colors I wear, I used to stick to more "non-colors", but I'm increasingly including other colors. I love fashion and dressing up, and choosing my outfit every day brings me great pleasure. I think it would be terrible if I had to work in a uniform, but I would adapt to that if I had to. Luckily, at Duga I don't have to! At Duga, we value all ways of expression.
Regarding my education and professional career, I went to the Antun Vrančić Science and Mathematics High School in Šibenik, I love mathematics and I continued to cultivate my love for it during college by teaching children mental arithmetic, or abacus calculations, through the Brainobrain program. During college, I volunteered at the Sever Psychological Center and the National Call Center for Victims of Crime and Misdemeanors, and as part of my volunteering, I am completing basic education for working with victims, which consists of legal and communication skills, as well as specialized education: Working with suicidal callers, Intergenerational transmission of violence, and Gaslighting as a form of emotional abuse.
At university, I thought I would work in a hospital and be a clinical psychologist, but my internship at the School for Road Traffic completely transformed me and that is where my love for working with children and adolescents was born, after which my career path actually took a completely different direction. After graduating, I got a job at the “Ljubo Babić” Elementary School in Jastrebarsko, where I did individual counseling with children, led mediations in conflict situations, conducted workshops, projects, and collaborated with other members of the professional staff and teachers. After that, I transferred to the V. Gymnasium in Zagreb, where I continued working with adolescents. I am currently working towards combining clinical work with the child and adolescent population, but outside of institutions such as schools or hospitals. I plan to further my education in the field of measuring instruments so that I can also conduct psychological assessments at Duga.
After graduating, I engaged in further learning through various training courses that covered topics such as working with associative maps, prevention and intervention in cases of online gender-based violence, and understanding the spectrum. At the Mozaik Support training, I went through the basics of counseling and working with children, adolescents, and parents, acceptance therapy techniques - ACT and mindfulness, and the assessment and treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, OCD, eating disorders, trauma, and suicidality in children.
Something I knew even before enrolling in college was that I wanted to be a therapist, so I was aware that I would continue my education after graduating in psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. I am currently studying to be an integrative child and adolescent psychotherapist. I am dedicated to my job and truly love doing it. In my work, I combine various techniques and methods, which is why I chose an integrative school. In fact, no therapeutic direction was really right for me because I liked something about each one, and so I came up with the idea that it would be best to choose a direction that integrates knowledge from all directions. I think I made a good choice because I do not believe in “one size fits all” because we are all different and it is simply not possible for something to work for everyone. This is exactly how I approach my work, each person individually and I try to adapt both my work and my techniques to the person sitting across from me, specifically you or your children.
I am pleased to be a member of Rainbows and Clouds and look forward to guiding you through your personal process!
